More Than a Fruit Fest: A Three-Day Cultural Showcase

While the jackfruit takes center stage, the event offers far more than fruit. Here's what makes this year’s edition special:

🟡 Poetic Homage to the Jackfruit

On June 6 evening, a unique poetry conference—titled Jackfruit in Verse—will explore the sensory and cultural nuances of the fruit. Curated by Kasapa Puttur President Umesh Nayak and composed by Umashankari A.P. Marike, the poems are expected to capture the fruit’s deep roots in Tuluva heritage and evoke memories through verse.

🔸 Yakshagana Spotlight: Panasopakhyana Talamaddale

On June 7 evening, fairgoers will witness a fresh Yakshagana-style Talamaddale play themed around the jackfruit, titled Panasopakhyana. Designed exclusively for the fair, this new episode will blend folk theater, mythological storytelling, and agricultural insight, running for nearly three hours. This will mark the first time a Yakshagana format is devoted entirely to a fruit.

🥭 Jackfruit & Mango Extravaganza

A flavorful array of jackfruit and mango varieties from Hunsur, Sakharapatta, Doddaballapur, Brahmavar, and Channapatna has been put up for sale—directly by farmers. Highlights include:

  • Jackfruit: raw, ripe, dry chips, mulukka, happala (pappad)

  • Mango: juicy table varieties and pulp-based treats

  • Jackfruit-based dishes: dosa, kebabs, manchurian, juices

Every bite at the fest aims to bridge culinary nostalgia with farm-to-table freshness.

Innovation & Inclusion: From Farmers to Industry
